Kenn Kotara's abstract, mixed-media works on canvas focus on the Barbe espagnole (“Spanish beard,” or Spanish moss) series. The works explore the abstract and metaphorical potential of circular lines symbolizing Spanish moss. They take their cue from a number of sources, both natural and artistic, inspired by the bayou landscape of Kotara’s native Louisiana and the Blue Ridge Mountains of his adopted home in North Carolina.
